Welcome to the website for  DETRA. This is the official website for DETRA, Dickens Estate Tenants & Residents Association of Bermondsey, south-east London, UK.

SPRING 2004 WELCOME.

DETRA HERALD is the official newsletter for Dickens Estate Tenants & Residents Association of Bermondsey Riverside.

14.5M PHONE MAST 2ND FOLLOW-UP MEETING:

DETRA have called for a 2nd meeting regarding the phone mast application. Local Councillors Stephen FLANNERY, and Eliza MANN attended. Nick STANTON could not attend as he was concentrating on the East Walworth by-election. DETRA urge all Residents in Rudge,  Macwber,  and Spenlow Houses to contact T-Mobile, and their contractors COMMPRO. (Details below). This is especially important as a number of Officers on Southwark Councils Planning Dept have been heavily critiscised by a District Auditors report regarding planning applications in Camberwell, as well as their overall decisions regarding applications, and their methods of record keeping.

2ND MEETING- Wed 25 February,Wade Hall,7.30pm.

T-MOBILE & COMMPRO DECLINE TO ATTEND MEETING:

Emma MELLON (T-Mobile Community Liason Officer), and Richard HATTERSLEY (Commpro Acting Case Officer) have been invited to the 2nd follow-up phone mast meeting on 25 Feb via email., but have declined to attend. This was to allow T-Mobile, and Commpro the chance to present their case to Dickens Estate Residents for their choice of location. We urge affected Residents to pressure them to attend. Contact on:

WARNING:

In August 2001, planning legislation relating to  telecommunications changed under the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (Amendment) (England) Order 2001 (the GPDO). A local planning authority now has 56 days in which to determine such an application, during which time there is a right of refusal on the grounds of siting and/or appearance. During this 56-day period the local planning authority may issue notification of the application to local residents and consider representations from residents concerning the proposal. Emma MELLON (T-Mobile Community Liason Officer) informed DETRA

As you will be aware, T-Mobile was granted approval for the site at Bevington Street on 2 February 2004. Prior to submitting this application, we wrote to the local planning authority, ward councillors and nearby schools and invited comments about location and design. In writing to the local planning authority, we also enquired as to whether there were any other local groups that they felt should be consulted. Unfortunately, the Council did not respond and we were therefore not aware of your groups potential interest in this development.
